Kent employs GSSC to patrol their buildings so their parking lots are safer than most in the area. In the year that I lived with them I only ever had to talk to GSSC one time when there was a disturbance in the apartment below mine, there was a review about being bothered already posted but I feel like they may have been the cause of that themselves.
Cleaners came in to clean my bedroom after my lease was over, and they broke the window screen and did not report it. I had to personally report the problem to them because of their own cleaners...WTF....My blinds were also broken when i moved in, and I bet they charged the previous owner as well and never replaced it afterwards.....
I had friends living in Kent Housing apartments last year and decided to rent an apartment through them this fall. They are wonderful to work with, always concerned about maintenance work you need, and their prices are very reasonable. All around a great place to rent from!
Whenever there was a problem with something in our apartment that needed to have a work order put in someone had come and fixed it within 48 hours. At one point my key broke off in the deadbolt on our entrance door, effectively locking me out of my apartment, and one of the owners left their child's little league game and was at the building in less than an hour to open the door and replace the lock.
I was a resident with Kent Housing a couple of years ago and I was so impressed with the experience that I am returning to live in another one of their buildings this June.
I really enjoyed this apartment. I lived on 5th Avenue in St. Cloud across from SCSU. Pros: Maintenance was always quick to respond and was very polite. Always had a great experience with the management as well! After I moved out they held on to a package for me that showed up to my old apartment until I could come pick it up! Cons: Washer broke multiple times and the location is NOISY.
One of the reasons I am coming back to Kent is because I never had to come home and deal with someone around me keeping me up all night with a party. I've been saying it for years but 5 stars for a stupendous housing company in a town where I listen to all my friends complain about theirs.
Security will bother you constantly. Some of the dryers are broken and won't fix them or even put an out of order sign on them. The staff are all related to each other so good look with filing any complaints.
Price is pretty decent. Not the most beautiful place to live and not exactly spacious but still better than many other apartments. I won't give it a 5 star because obviously it's not perfect, and I won't give it 4 stars because they tried to rip me off $50 for a mistake they made.
The property owners are extremely nice people, easy to deal with, and are more than willing to help anybody walk through completing the lease signing process. The rent is reasonable and if you rent a two bedroom like I did the rooms are massive, each room used to be two so you get two closets and a two bedroom apartment also has two bathrooms.
I give it 3 starts only because its close to campus..

The building was secure and a cleaning crew came through and cleaned the whole building very regularly, I can't remember if it was weekly or not but the upkeep was fantastic.
